Florence Barnett
Florence Barnett, 67, of Mechanicstown, Ohio, passed away peacefully Jan. 27, 2026, at Aultman Hospital in Canton.
She was born Feb. 17, 1958, in Salem, Ohio, a daughter of the late Allan Everhart and Jean Nunamaker.
Florence dedicated much of her professional life to Ohi-Rail Corp., where she played a key role in training programs for hazardous materials handling and conducted bridge inspections, contributing to safety and infrastructure maintenance in the rail industry.
Those who knew her will remember Florence as tough and old-school in the best sense, resilient and straightforward, yet deeply caring at heart. She was always willing to listen without judgment and offered thoughtful guidance whenever she could, leaving a lasting impression as a steadfast friend and confidante to many.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Barnett, and their children.
Per Florence’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no formal services or visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembering her through acts of kindness in the community she cherished.
