Roy Blevins

Roy Blevins, 95, of Kensington and formerly of Minerva, passed away Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026, in the Minerva Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born July 30, 1930, in East Rochester to Samuel and Nannie (Hulse) Blevins.

He retired from James River Co. in Minerva, where he worked for 34 years, having started at Minerva Wax Paper. He also worked for Ford Motor Co. and Minerva True Value Hardware. He was a member of New Alexander Christian Church, and a 70-year member of Augusta Lodge No. 501 F&AM. Roy was a fun and good guy and always had time for a friendly chat.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl “Peggy” (Hilliard) Blevins, whom he married March 19, 2016, and a son, Jim Blevins of Minerva. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeannie (Beltz) Blevins, who died in 2014; two sisters, Jeannie Kistner and Charlotte Boord; and two brothers, Sam and Austin Blevins.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 5, at 11 a.m. in Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva, with Ken Muller officiating.

Burial took place in East Lawn Cemetery.

Calling hours were held one hour prior to services Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home, where Masonic services were held at 10:50 a.m. prior to the funeral.
