Does the gloomy winter weather have you thinking about spring? We spend most of the cold months inside trying to stay warm and escape from the cold elements. I am personally counting down the days for warm weather and sunshine.
During early spring I enjoy spending time outside taking walks and planning what flowers and outdoor projects I can get my hands on. I often have to remind myself it’s OK to slow down and just enjoy all spring has to offer.

By the end of winter, I tend to find myself struggling with everyday activities. The gloomy days have lasted for what feels like forever, so finding ways to reconnect with myself is a top priority.
There are lots of activities you can participate in while we are still in the middle of winter, like connecting with groups in the community, reading a book, and exploring activities and programs at your local library. Try to take advantage of the few days we do get sunshine by stepping outside, even if it’s just for a few minutes.
About 40% of Americans report their mood declines during the winter, and about 60% report feeling better when spring rolls around. So if you are feeling down during the winter, know you are not alone.
If interested in learning about various ways to reconnect with yourself, others and nature, join the OSU Extension Live Healthy Live Well team as they present a webinar series, The Healing Power of Connections.
In this engaging Wednesday Webinar series, we’ll explore how meaningful connections strengthen teams, spark innovation, and enhance well-being at work and beyond.
The webinar series will be held virtually in March from noon to 12:30 p.m. Wednesdays.
