Wooster Music Club to present Dickens’ A Christmas Carol with music and holiday reception
Free Dec. 2 event at Wooster United Methodist Church features seasonal performances and a dramatic reading by Richard Figge, followed by refreshments.
Wooster Music Club will host a dramatic reading of "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens, performed by Richard Figge. The reading will be preceded by seasonal music performed by club members and friends.
This free event at Wooster United Methodist Church, 243 N. Market St., will take place Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 6:30 p.m. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. Enter through glass doors at the rear. There will be special music for about 30 minutes, followed by Figge's performance. A reception will follow with holiday refreshments.
Figge is a professor emeritus at The College of Wooster. He is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and has performed in numerous productions in the U.S. and Europe including three one-man shows.
The Wooster Music Club has been in existence for 104 years. Formerly known as the McDowell Club, it was reorganized in 2013 to emphasize shared enjoyment of music. Members have the option to perform or not perform. The club has both professional and amateur musicians. They welcome visitors at their meetings.
The organization also has an endowment that supports private lessons for students, promoting music into the next generation.
