Coshocton defeats River View in finale
Redskins secure 57-35 win at The Wigwam, set for tournament rematch.
A strong second half helped the Coshocton Redskins close out the regular season by defeating the River View Black Bears 57-35 at The Wigwam.
The game was tightly contested early, with Coshocton holding a 15-14 lead before the Redskins sparked momentum with an 11-0 run to create separation. The Redskins held a 27-16 advantage at the break.
Coshocton continued to build its lead in the third quarter, extending the margin to 37-24 heading into the final period. The Redskins then put the game away by outscoring the Black Bears 20-11 over the final eight minutes.
JJ Herman and Champ Haley led Coshocton with 13 points apiece, providing balanced scoring throughout the night. Carter Wesney paced River View with 11 points.
The win wraps up the regular season for both teams, but they won’t have to wait long for a rematch. Coshocton and River View will meet again to open East District tournament play Saturday, Feb. 28, with the sixth-seeded Redskins hosting the first-round matchup.
In the junior varsity contest, Coshocton earned a 68-36 victory behind 14 points each from Jace Coffman and Johnny Art.
