Eli E. Yoder "Ervin's Eli", 81, of Sugarcreek, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Following a courageous battle with Parkinsons.
He was born on February 4, 1944, to the late Ervin and Iva (Schlabach) Yoder.
He leaves behind his loving wife Clara (Mullet) Yoder with whom they enjoyed 57 years of marriage. Together they had four sons and four daughters, Dean Yoder, Joseph and Elsie Yoder, Susan and Wayne Mast, Naomi and Merle Beachy, MariAnn and Firman Troyer, Merle and Cindy Yoder, Marlin and Kara Yoder, and Linda and Marion Yoder; 27 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. One sister, Mary (Joe Jr.) Miller and sister-in-law Velma Yoder.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Verba Yoder and Anna Mae Raber; brother, Aden Yoder; brother-in-law, Gideon Raber; son-in-law, Jr. Miller "Bun" and grandson, Kolton Trae Yoder.
He was well-known for his love for mushroom hunting and horse racing. He always enjoyed his grandchildren's sporting events and was proud of each one of them. His witty sense of humor and storytelling was always quick to bring smiles and laughter to everyone.
Services were held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Gospel Haven Church, 6871 SR 241, Millersburg. Sam Yoder officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Friends were able to call on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Gospel Haven Church. Arrangements were handled by Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek.
