Sugarcreek fire department pursues $180K grant
Grant aims to fund 18 new air packs and a filling station, enhancing local emergency response.
At the Feb. 17 Sugarcreek Village Council meeting, Fire Chief John Meek informed council the fire department is applying for a grant for new air packs.
“The grant should be between $150,000-$180,000, which will provide 18 air packs and a new filling station,” Meek said.
Mayor Walt Wilson said he received two requests from residents regarding alleys. The requests were placed in the street and alley committee for review.
Wilson said a memo from the Office of Management and Budget has been given to council members and placed on the village's Facebook page. Village officials will continue to share information regarding issues that may affect the residents.
Council also did the following:
—Heard two furnaces were replaced at Village Hall. The furnaces were installed in 1999, and the new furnaces are 98% efficient.
—Learned the fire department wants to list items for sale online. Council received the list for review.
—Requested Village Administrator Kevin Kaser tell Quicksall and Associates to move forward with project plans for the next sections of Maple Street and the extension on Church Street. An ordinance will be prepared to accept bids for the project.
