From the moon to misplaced mail, travel still amazes
Vance A. Long
Vance A. Long, 69, of Cadiz, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, January 26, 2026. Vance was born on October 12, 1956, in Wheeling, West Virginia, a son of the late Van W. and Lola M. Bell Long.
Vance was retired from the former Twin City Concrete, now Smith Concrete, in Cadiz. He loved to hunt, fish, and whittle.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Rosemary Patrick Long; daughter, Annie Long and her husband, Jimmy McAfee; special nieces and nephews, Braelyn and Ethan Patrick and Roxie and Ron Butchel; Cassie Wright who was like a daughter to him; Glenna Wells who was like a mother to him; and two sisters-in-law: Polly (Bobby) Nalley and Becky (Bob) Frohnapfel; brother-in-law, Randy (Christine) Patrick.
Per his request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Scio Firehall. Friend and family may gather at 11 a.m. with a memorial luncheon beginning at 2 p.m. and you may bring a covered dish.
The family is being assisted by Clark-Kirkland-Barr Funeral Home in Cadiz, Ohio.
