The Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office is saddened to announce the passing of K-9 Chili.
K-9 Chili was a 10-year-old Belgian Malinois who passed away from medical issues on May 16th, 2025. Chili began his Career with the Coshocton Sheriff’s Office in 2017, and was trained by VanEss K-9 Academy. K-9 Chili was trained as a dual-purpose K-9 and his duties included narcotics detection, suspect apprehension, evidence search, and tracking.

During Chili’s Career with the Sheriff’s Office, he located numerous missing persons and fleeing suspects. Chili’s roll as a narcotics detection K-9 assisted in countless traffic stops, drug related investigations, and arrests. K-9 Chili also loved to show off his skills during K-9 demonstrations for schools, county fairs, and community events.
Deputy William Mox was K-9 Chili’s partner. This K-9 team strived to make Coshocton County a safer place to live. K-9 Chili was a tremendous asset to the Coshocton County Sheriff’s and the Coshocton community. Deputy Mox and K-9 Chili made the perfect team and could always be counted on to get the job done, no matter what the Mission was.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 11:00 am at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home. All are welcome to attend and pay their respects to Chili and Deputy Mox.
