Vernon Courtney
Vernon Courtney, age 65 of Coshocton, passed away on January 3, 2026, at his home. He was born on April 14, 1960, in Youngstown, Ohio, to the late Joseph Henry Courtney Jr. and Pauline Ares (Peckham) Courtney. He worked for KnoHoCo winterizing houses for 15 years. Vernon was known to be a tinkering man. He spent time in his garage always fixing or building, whether it was an engine or making a knife. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved camping. He loved his family and his grandchildren deeply.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Rachel (Parker) Courtney; children, Chadwick (Amanda) Courtney and grandchildren, John and Leah Courtney; siblings, Warren Courtney, Curtis (Christine) Courtney, Jennifer Brazil, Lori (Michael) Jacobs and Jennifer Evans, He was raised by Rachel’s uncle, “Old Man” Fred Dunfee and sisters, Karen Lyn (Vernon) Mardis, Lori Dunfee and Theresa Dunfee as well as a special nephew Vernon Chanay. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Joseph, Darren and Stephen Courtney and Juanita Grey.
A cremation will take place with the Miller Funeral Home and Crematory and celebration of life will be held. An online memorial can be viewed at www.themillerfuneralhome.com.
