FRAZEYSBURG- Miriam Joyce (Richard) Mikesell, 89, passed away Monday, September 1, 2025, at Danbury of Millersburg.

Miriam was born January 12, 1936, in New Castle to the late Robert Paul and Flora Mae (Hagans) Richard. She graduated in 1953 from Union High School. Later in Miriam’s life, she proudly completed her Bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University. She married Robert Lee Mikesell on March 26, 1955, who preceded her in death June 4, 2004.

Miriam was a devout member of the former Nellie United Methodist Church. She enjoyed providing piano music for church, weddings, and community events. She was a founding board member of the River View Community Park in Warsaw, where they proudly undertook fundraising for the construction of the former River View Community Swimming Pool. Miriam was a member of the Orders of Ohio Eastern Star and Pythian Sisters where she served as the Supreme Grand Chief in 2010. She had the honor of mentoring the young men of Alpha Gamma Rho Beta Chapter fraternity at The Ohio State University as House Mother. Bob and Miriam were owners and operators of Mikesell Stock Farm in Frazeysburg, MR. Chevrolet in Warsaw and was involved with the Commercial & Savings Bank in Danville. Bob and Miriam took great pleasure in their participation in state and national agricultural organizations where deep friendships were forged.Miriam is survived by three daughters: Beth (Steve) Nelson of Coshocton, Barbara (Phil) Watts of Granville and Susan (Alan) Brinker of Frazeysburg; grandchildren: Nick (Kim) Miller, Chad (Darcy) Miller, Lauren (Anthony) Kaercher, Ian Brinker, Leah (Kaston) Eichenauer and Aiden Brinker; great-grandchildren: Gavin & Allie Miller, Mason & Lexi Miller, and Wyatt & Arabella Kaercher.Other surviving family include sisters-in-law: Lyndia Richard of Dayton, Bee Lehner of Coshocton, and Carolyn Richards of Warsaw; and several nieces & nephews. Also surviving are Peggy Mikesell of Warsaw and Marilyn Cuningham of Arcadia, her dearest friends.

In addition to Miriam’s parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Bob Richard, Bill Richard, and David Richards.

Calling hours were held Thursday, September 4, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, as well as one hour prior to service time at Roscoe Church on Friday. A Celebration of Life was held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 5, at Roscoe United Methodist Church: 475 High St. Coshocton, OH 43812. Pastor Bob Mitchell officiated. Light refreshments and fellowship followed, and services concluded with a graveside committal at West Carlisle Cemetery at 4:00 p.m.
