Dot Bickel

WARSAW- Dorothea “Dot” Bickel died Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at her daughter’s home. She was born on Jan. 3, 1931 in Coshocton County Spring Mountain, Ohio to the late Basil J. and Bessie R. (Grant) Hunter. She married Byron Bickel, who preceded her in death.
  Dot was always the first one to send a birthday card, anniversary or get-well card to family, church family, friends, and neighbors. She was always there to bring food and visit those who were sick at home, in the hospital or nursing home. She was constantly there for her family, babysitting family pets while we traveled, helping with all and any projects. Any time anyone needed help Dottie was there to lend a helping hand. Dottie was affectionally known as “Aunt Dot”, Grandma and Mom to many. She never met a stranger and loved to help others. Dot has a real servant’s heart. Dottie loved to garden, take care of her flowers and take care of her yard. Dottie would tackle any family project big or small.
  Her favorite expression was “I don’t want to tell you what to do, but….”Dot had attended Gospel Hill Ministry for over 45 years; in addition, she volunteered in the Gospel Hill office for 30 years. 
  Dottie also worked in the Gospel Hill office. She was very active with Gospel Hill Ministry nursery, Lightkeepers, nursing home ministry and anywhere she was needed. She was famous for her “Pineapple sheet cake” that was requested at every church event. She could always be found in the church kitchen helping serve a meal. Dot loved Gospel music and attended numerous Gospel sings at Gospel Hill.
  Dottie was a homemaker and later retired from Pretty Products after 25 years. Dot remained true to her friends over her lifetime.
  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Glen Funk and Edwin Hunter; and her twin brother, Don Hunter; sisters-in-law, Maragret Funk, Sylvia Hunter, and Emily Hunter; a nephew, Don Hunter; her son-in-law, Rich Jones; a step-granddaughter, Tiffany McCluggage; and also, family members Gene and Bev Albertson.
  She is survived by two daughters, Sandy Jones, and Kathy (John) Wright; a granddaughter, Trena (Dennis Cline); stepdaughter, Karen (Wilbur) McCluggage; step-grandchildren, Gary (Nichole) McCluggage, and Michelle Bebber; and several step-grandchildren. She is also survived by nieces, Sharon Hunter and Kathy Hunter, and many friends and former co-workers.
  A Celebration of Dot’s Life will be held at Gospel Hill Ministry, 27610 TR 45 Warsaw, 43844, on Saturday January 3, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Jerry Sexton will officiate. Friends and family may visit two hours prior to service time at the church.
