Chester Phillabaum Sr.

Chester Phillabaum Sr., age 88, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Lafayette Point. He was born on April 3, 1937, in Port Washington, Ohio, to the late Frederick Jacob and Ethel May (Loos) Phillabaum. He was a 1956 graduate of West Lafayette High School. He worked as a heavy equipment operator at AEP for over 30 years. His biggest achievement was creating the Coshocton County Cloud Climbers group and holding the president position. He loved anything aviation including model airplanes. He enjoyed learning and reading about history. He was a die-hard OSU fan, always watching and keeping up with the football team. Chester is survived by his children, Chester “Ted” Phillabaum Jr., Candice (Tim) Mullen, Ann Angle and William “Bill” Phillabaum; grandchildren, David (Katie) and Colt (Kayla) Phillabaum, Fred L. Bisel, Timothy “Ryan” (Alycia) Mullen, Cliff Myers, Brooke (Lance) Myers Crawford, and Zachary Myers; nine great grandchildren and mother of his children, Louise Phillabaum as well as other step children. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his five siblings: two grandsons, Christopher Lee and Orvel Dale and daughter-in-law, Rose Mary “Rosie” Phillabaum and granddaughter, Amanda R. Cottrill. Calling hours were held at The Miller Funeral Home on Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 11am to 1pm. The funeral began at 1pm. Evangelist David Kenney officiated.
