Robert Daniel Crowl, 92, of Malvern, passed away Friday, March 20, 2026, at Aultman Health Foundation.

He was born Sept. 15, 1933, in Canton to Lawrence and Maggie (Riebe) Crowl.

Robert served in the Navy during the Korean conflict. He was the owner of Crowl Lumber. He was a past president of Central Builders Supply and a district president of the Ohio Lumbermen’s Association. He also served as a church elder. He enjoyed gardening, especially tending his vegetable garden.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marlene Crowl of Malvern; a son, Jeff (Connie) Crowl of Malvern; a daughter, Donna (John) Champer of Malvern; 13 grandchildren, April (Phillip) Buckhannon, Neil (Shannon) Schmidt, David Crowl, Carrie Crowl, Joseph Crowl, Kimberly Crowl, Megan (Alex) Barnett, William (Joanna) Darby, Daniel Darby, Nolan (Kristy) Champer, John (Liza) Champer, Adam (Natalie) Champer and Maggie Champer; 10 great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Collin, Savannah, Sophia, Kaiden, Owen, Rhys, Silas, Wyatt and Noah; a son-in-law, William Darby of Akron; two brothers, Don (Marianne) Crowl of Carmichael, California, and Jerry (Joyce) Crowl of Macomb, Michigan; and a sister, Joy Kay Moore of Surprise, Arizona.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a sister, Valoise Hoffman; a daughter, Laura Darby; and a son, David Crowl.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Deckman-Bartley Funeral Home, 434 W. Main St., Malvern, with the Rev. Kevin McLeod of Resurrection Lutheran Church officiating.

Burial followed at Bethlehem Cemetery.

Visitation was held Tuesday, March 24, 2026, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to services Wednesday from 10-11 a.m.
