Bob Rodstrom

Robert E. Rodstrom, MD, FACP, crossed over to a new life peacefully among family on October 13, 2025. He was 84 years old.

Bob is survived by his wife, Fran, three children, four grandchildren, one brother, one niece, and two nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters and his parents. Bob was born in Manama, Bahrain, to Charles and Henrietta (Oudemool) Rodstrom.

As a child, he lived in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Larchmont, New York instilling in him a love of different cultures. Bob was an Eagle Scout and graduated from The College of Wooster with a degree in Chemistry and Wayne State University School of Medicine.

Bob met Fran, a teacher, while he was a resident at the Cleveland Clinic. They were married in 1973. Bob served our country during the Vietnam war as a Major in the US Army at Fort Lee, VA where he was chief of the hospital and clinics. In May 1975, he volunteered to serve at Fort Indiantown Gap, PA, where he treated the refugees from the war. In 1976, Bob and Fran moved to Mount Vernon, OH, where he practiced Internal Medicine and Geriatrics for 37 years retiring in 2012. Medicine was his calling. Bob dedicated his life to his family, the study of medicine, and caring for people.

Bob was an active member of Gay Street United Methodist Church and his communities in Mount Vernon and Lakeside OH, as well as Walterville, OR. Bob loved being with his children and grandchildren, music, singing, learning, sailing, and the company of family and friends. Bob’s legacy is one of faith, kindness, humility, perseverance, and purpose. He lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Calling hours will be held Friday, November 14, 2025, from 4:00-8:00 pm at Snyder Funeral Home Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road, Mount Vernon, OH. A celebration of life will be held at Gay Street United Methodist Church, 18 North Gay Street, Mount Vernon, OH on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 3:00 pm.
