Six Knox County golf courses named to new Ohio Golf Trail
The trail, featured on Ohio.org, highlights the best "Heart of it All" golfing experiences
Knox County is officially securing its spot as a premier destination for golfers in the Midwest. TourismOhio recently unveiled the Ohio Golf Trail, a curated collection of the state’s top public courses, and six Knox County locations have earned a prestigious spot on the inaugural list.
The trail, featured on Ohio.org, highlights the best "Heart of it All" golfing experiences. Knox County is well-represented within the Central Ohio region, showcasing a variety of landscapes from the rolling hills to the scenic farmland.
The Knox County courses featured on the Ohio Golf Trail include:
- Apple Valley Golf Course (Howard): Frequently ranked as one of the top public courses in Ohio, this 4-star Golf Digest-rated course is known for its immaculate conditions and beautiful scenery.
- Chapel Hill Golf Course (Mount Vernon): Built on the site of a former seminary, this course offers unique elevation changes and a challenging layout for all skill levels.
- Irish Hills Golf Club (Mount Vernon): A local favorite that provides a classic golf experience with lush fairways and a welcoming atmosphere.
- Vernon View Golf Course (Mount Vernon): Offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, this course is recognized for its well-manicured greens and playability.
- Table Rock Golf Club (Centerburg): Known for its strategic design and "country club" feel at a public price point, Table Rock is a staple of the Knox County golf scene.
- Wyandot Golf Club (Centerburg): A beautiful 18-hole course that combines natural hazards with open fairways, providing a fair but firm test for visiting golfers.
“Having six of our courses recognized on the state’s official golf trail is a testament to the quality and diversity of play available right here in Knox County,” said Olivia Toth, executive director of the Knox County CVB. “Whether you are a scratch golfer or a weekend enthusiast, the Knox County leg of this trail offers some of the best value and most beautiful landscapes in the state.”
The Ohio Golf Trail was designed to encourage residents and visitors alike to explore the 180-plus public courses across the state. By featuring Knox County so prominently, the trail is expected to drive increased sports tourism to the area, benefiting local restaurants, shops, and lodging.
