Danville softball belts way into district finals
Blue Devils beat Mount Gilead 19-0 to advance to 14th straight finals appearance

Nobody was stopping the Danville softball team from reaching
its 14th straight district final; especially not a league foe.
The Blue Devils erupted for 14 runs in the second inning,
pounding Knox Morrow Athletic Conference foe Mount Gilead, 19-0, on Tuesday.
The win put the Devils (20-5) into the Div. VI central district finals on
Friday against Cardington, which pounded Berne Union, 17-0. The game will be
played Friday at 2 p.m. at Pickerington Central.
Danville pounded out 16 hits in the five-inning victory over
the Indians. Ruby Bartok led the way with a home run, two singles and four RBI.
Liz John drove in five runners on her three singles, Ryleigh Geog had a double,
single and two RBI. Kaylee Martin and Addy Bocock delivered two singles each,
and Dalayna Parker doubled. Morgan Hinkens, Kelly Carder and Riley Johnston all
singled.
Bocock pitched for Danville, striking out 13 in her five
innings of work. She allowed just one hit and one walk.
Danville wrapped up its regular season with a 17-6 victory
over West Muskingum.
Ruby Bartok led the Blue Devils with a home run, double,
single and four RBI, while Taylor Mead had a home run, three singles and four
RBI. Dalayna Parker also homered for Danville. Liz John checked in with a
double and two singles, Ryleigh Geog had a double and a single, and Addy Bocock
had two singles.
Bocock tossed the first three innings, striking out five.
Parker finished up, fanning three.
Baseball
Danville managed nine hits, but just one run in a 10-1 loss
to Utica on May 15.
Cy Wallace led the Blue Devils with a double and a single.
Mason Savage added three singles, while Reuben Troyer doubled, Brycen Burke had
two singles and Jacob Byers had one.
Clayton Vance pitched the first three innings, striking out
one. Burke followed with three Ks in two innings and Wallace finished up.
