Knox Coin Exchange relocating to Fredericktown this summer
Local precious metals and collectibles shop to reopen in July at new location
Knox Coin Exchange, LLC, a trusted destination for gold, silver, coins, currency, and collectibles in Knox County for many years, is relocating from Mount Vernon to Fredericktown this summer.
The business, currently located on North Main Street in Mount Vernon, is temporarily closed while preparing its new location at 160 North Main Street in Fredericktown.
The shop is expected to reopen in early July. Updates will be posted on the business’s Facebook page beginning in late June.
Owned by Jerrold Bolden, Knox Coin Exchange specializes in buying and selling gold and silver coins, estate jewelry, vintage currency, antiques, and collectibles. The Fredericktown resident purchased the business six years ago after spending 25 years working as an assistant production manager for a Honda supplier.
A Legacy of Learning
Bolden began collecting coins at just 3 years old, after his father and grandfather introduced him to collecting and investing in precious metals. Knox Coin Exchange has become more than a business for him. In fact, Bolden views it as a mission.
“A lot of people have items tucked away in basements, attics, jewelry boxes, or old collections and don’t realize they may have real value,” Bolden said. “I enjoy helping people uncover that value, whether it’s through coins, silver, gold, or collectibles. I also believe in educating people about precious metals and tangible assets that can help protect against inflation and economic uncertainty. For me, it’s not just about buying and selling — it’s about helping people.”
Operating under the name and tagline, “Knox Coin Exchange — Your Local Gold & Silver Headquarters,” the shop serves collectors, investors, estate sellers, and customers throughout Knox County and surrounding communities.
A More Customer-Friendly Experience
“This move is really about convenience and accessibility for our customers,” said Bolden. “We’ve appreciated our years in Mount Vernon, but traffic and parking challenges downtown have become increasingly difficult for many people visiting the shop. Fredericktown gives us an opportunity to create a more customer-friendly experience while staying right here in Knox County.”
The move will also allow the shop to expand its community engagement efforts over time, including educational events and seminars focused on gold and silver, coin collecting, and market trends.
“Gold and silver have become topics of growing interest for many people,” Bolden said. “Some customers are longtime collectors, while others are simply looking to learn more about tangible assets and precious metals. We want Knox Coin Exchange to be a welcoming place for both.”
For updates on the move, visit Knox Coin Exchange on Facebook. Although the shop is closed for the next several weeks due to the move, appointments can be requested by calling Bolden at 740-627-1524.
