Offense leads Centerburg baseball to pair of victories
Trojans score early to beat Loudonville, late to beat Freddies
The Centerburg baseball team won games by scoring early and late this week.
A three-run first inning propelled Centerburg to a 6-1 victory over Loudonville on May 6.
Aiden Trobridge and Vinny Morgan each smacked two singles to lead the Trojans. Ryan Long, Dustin Parker, Clarke Redd, Lincoln Julian and Quentin Bellamy all singled.
Morgan went the distance on the mound, striking out six.
Tuesday, the Trojans scored two in the fifth and four in the sixth to beat Fredericktown, 9-5.
Trobridge and Gabe Campos each had a single and a double to pace CHS. Bellamy added a double, while Long, Parker and Redd all singled.
Parker pitched all seven innings, fanning three.
Softball
Three extra base hits plated three runs in the fourth inning and Centerburg went on to a 3-1 victory over Buckeye Valley on May 8.
Abby Herren led off the barrage with a solo home run. After Taylor Bryant walked, Jazmyn Larimore doubled her home for the second run of the inning. Kallie Webb followed with another double to score Larimore.
Larimore also added a single on the day.
Morgan Beaver tossed a five-hitter on the mound to keep Buckeye Valley at bay. She struck out five.
Centerburg pounded out 20 hits in a 14-2 victory over Loudonville on Monday.
Larimore led the assault with a home run, two doubles and four RBI. Webb added two doubles and a single, while Bryant had a double and two singles. Herren smacked a home run and a single; Sydnee Schoonover had three singles; and Emma Shaw and Beaver had two hits each.
Beaver threw the first four innings, striking out two. Jeannae Dial finished up, fanning one.
