Danville's Hackman wins four KMAC track titles

Senior wins 100, 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles and long jump

Kelsey Hackman continues to make the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference track championships her personal playground.

The Danville senior captured four more KMAC titles Tuesday at Mount Gilead, making her a perfect 18-0 for her career.

Hackman won the 100-meter dash (17.20 seconds), 100 hurdles (17.20), 300 hurdles (49.33) and long jump (16-foot-1), winning four events for the third time.

Not to be outdone, the East Knox relay teams broke two KMAC records and just missed a third.

The EK team of Ava Faucett, Cloe Tucker, Macie Fawcett and Isabelle Bostic) broke their own 4x400 record, crossing the finish line in 4:09.47. That beat the time they set last year (4:12.64) by more than three seconds.

In the 4x200, Ellie Clark took the place of Tucker but the results were the same as the Bulldogs won and set a new meet record of 1:46.42.

The team of Tucker, Clark, Fawcett and Faucett also won the 4x100, just missing the KMAC record with a time of 51.91.

Northmor ended up winning the team championship, scoring 145 points. Fredericktown was third with 85, East Knox fifth (75 points), Danville sixth (57) and Centerburg eighth (38.5).

Fredericktown had three event champions — two from Ella Bouton. The Freddie senior broke her own meet record in the shot put, throwing 44-4. Bouton also won the discus with a toss of 127-5.

The Freddies’ other champion was Jenny Alexander, who cleared 11-7 in the pole vault, setting another KMAC record.

On the boys’ side, Centerburg had four event winners en route to a second-place team showing with 111 points. Mount Gilead won with 159, while Fredericktown was fourth at 70, East Knox fifth at 59 and Danville eighth with 27.

The Trojans won three individual field events on the day. Caleb Rhodebeck nipped teammate Miles Marshall in the high jump, clearing 6-0 to Marshall's runner-up finish at 5-10. In the long jump, Blane Ball won a KMAC title, leaping 20-6, and Jackson Ballinger won the discus with a heave of 149-5.

Centerburg also won the 4x100 relay. The team of Marshall, Ball, Eli Indiciani and Hayden Love crossed the finish line in 44.74.

East Knox’s Cason Faucett won one KMAC title and finished second in another event. He won the 400 in 50.45, then placed second in the 100 (11.40).

Fredericktown’s Blake Sipes took home gold in the 200, crossing the finish line in 23.06.

Jackets Invitational

The Mount Vernon girls track team won four events and cruised to the title of the Jackets Invitational on May 8.

The Yellow Jackets scored 146 points to win the team title. Fredericktown finished fourth with 77 points, while East Knox was sixth at 63 and Centerburg eighth at 43.

Lucy Rush set a new school record in the 3,200, winning the race in 10:51.01. Kennedy Howard and Nadia Nougi were also event winners, Howard taking the pole vault title with a leap of 11-6 and Nougi winning the long jump with a season-best leap of 16-10.

MV’s 4x100 team of Juliet Boyd, Nougi, Savannah Rose and Danaisa Best won in a season best time of 50.08.

East Knox set two school records in the relays. The 4x200 team of Ellie Clark, Ava Faucett, Macie Fawcett and Isabelle Bostic won in a time of 1:44.51, while the team of Clark, Fawcett, Faucett and Cloe Tucker finished second in the 4x100 with a new school record time of 51.32.

Fredericktown’s Ella Bouton won two events — the shot put (40-2) and discus (139-3.5). Centerburg had an event winner in Payton Tucker, who won the 1,600 in 5:51.68.

On the boys’ side, Mount Vernon finished second to Clear Fork (156-140). Centerburg was fourth at 72 points, Fredericktown fifth at 58 and East Knox seventh at 27.

The Jackets won six events on the day. Calvin Heithaus won the 1,600 with a personal best time of 4:25.03 and the 800 in 2:00.15, while Brady Mills won the 400 (50.30) and 200 (23.09). The 4x800 relay team of Landon Barber, Joey Butts, Jonah Eggert and Theo Miller ran a second best 8:34.51 and the 4x100 relay team won in 43.50.

East Knox’s Weston Bostic won the pole vault with a leap of 13-0, while Centerburg’s Skyler Merklin won the 300 hurdles in 44.34.
