Knox County baseball teams set for tournament play
East Knox receives No. 2 seed; Centerburg No. 3 in Div. II central district

The five Knox County high school baseball teams discovered their foes for their opening games of the post-season tournament during a draw on Sunday.
Mount Vernon received the No. 12 seed in Div. II and will take on Worthington Kilbourne, the five seed, on Tuesday, May 26, at 5 p.m. That district semifinal game will be played at Watkins Memorial.
If the Yellow Jackets win that game, they will play in the district finals on Thursday, May 28, at 5 p.m.
In Div. V, East Knox received the No. 2 seed and will have a bye in the first round. The Bulldogs will play host to the winner of Amanda-Clearcreek (10) and Harvest Prep (13) on Tuesday, May 26, at 5 p.m.
Centerburg was named the third seed and will also receive a bye. The Trojans will open play Tuesday, May 26, at home at 5 p.m. against the winner of Fredericktown (5) and Elgin (9).
The Freddies will play host to Elgin on Saturday, May 23, at 2 p.m.
The district finals will be held Thursday, May 28, at 2 p.m. at Beavers Field in Lancaster with the possibility of two county teams squaring off.
In Div. VII, Danville received the fifth seed and will play host to Genoa Christian on Thursday, May 21, at 5 p.m. in the sectionals. A victory would send the Blue Devils to Ridgedale on Saturday, May 23, at 2 p.m. for a shot to make it to districts.
On the softball side, Mount Vernon found out its opponent, as well. The Yellow Jackets received the third seed and will play host to 14th-seed Franklin Heights on Tuesday, May 19, at 5 p.m. A victory would put the Jackets in the district finals on Friday, May 22, at 5 p.m. at Olentangy.
