MVNU Community Music School to host Summer Youth Band for middle school musicians
Program to help musicians grow, continue playing in summer
Middle school musicians will have the opportunity to grow their musical skills and perform in a live concert this summer through the Summer Youth Band, a program of the MVNU Community Music School at Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
The program is designed for middle school students who have completed at least one year of band and want to continue playing and growing as musicians during the summer months.
Rehearsals will take place at Mount Vernon Middle School from 5:30-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday across two weeks: June 16-18 and June 23-25.
The experience will culminate in a Summer Youth Band Concert at 6:30 p.m. on June 25 in the Mount Vernon High School theater, where students will perform the music they have prepared throughout the rehearsals. The concert is free and open to the public.
Participation in the program is $80 per student, and registration is due by June 12.
Through the MVNU Community Music School, programs like the Summer Youth Band provide young musicians in the region with opportunities to continue their musical training, collaborate with peers, and gain valuable ensemble performance experience in a supportive environment.
