Come explore your creative roots at Arch Park community garden on May 21. The garden sits beside a levy that runs along Arch Avenue and the Kokosing River opposite Ariel-Foundation Park. The Gund Annex will host this first Back to Nature session on garden art for families with children of all ages from 6-7:30 p.m.
This session will provide opportunities to explore the natural world as art. Nature is both the canvas and the palette. Historically, gardens have been places of art and culture. They serve as a space where both new growth and dormancy hold seeds of uncovered beauty. The garden is a place where spring buds inspire hope and summer blooms spread joy.
The Annex, is an extension of Kenyon College's teaching museum, The Gund. This community art initiative offers free workshops, activities and events to neighbors, families, students, and lifelong learners. Arch Park community garden features a children's play area with a picnic table and dig area. The garden also offers free garden plots to community members interested in learning more about gardening. Applications for garden plots are available at the garden.
The Back to Nature series is sponsored by Knox Public Health, Creating Health Communities and the Parent Support Initiative of Knox County. Snacks and drinks will be available. Rain location will be at the Gund Annex, located at 12 E. Gambier St., Mount Vernon.
