Penelope J. Daniels

Penny Daniels

Penelope “Penny” Joy Daniels passed away Friday morning, November 7, 2025, at Ohio State Wexner Medical Center in Columbus with her daughter, Cassidy Daniels, and husband Scott Daniels at her side. After courageously fighting a two-year battle with lung cancer, she developed pneumonia and was unable to recover.

Penny was born on October 4, 1956, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to her mother, Betty (Bloom) Kracht Johnson, and her father, the late Conrad Kracht. She was the youngest of three children, her older brothers being Ric (Jackie) Kracht and Rusty (Gwen) Kracht. She was an outgoing Southern Belle full of joy and a love of life. Penny proudly served in the Navy for 20 years, from 1980 to 2000, during which she was stationed in various locations, including Louisiana, Mississippi, California, Texas, and Puerto Rico.

While serving in the military, she met the love of her life, Scott Daniels, who also served in the Navy. They married in 1992 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. After retiring, they settled down in Mount Vernon, Ohio, in 2005 to raise their daughter, Cassidy Daniels. They would have been celebrating their 33rd wedding anniversary on November 14th.

She was also a proud member of Faith Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon, where she served on the church council, ran Operation Christmas Child for several years, and volunteered for various church events. She deeply cared about her community and was a caring friend who always helped those in need. Penny devoted her life to raising her daughter, Cassidy, and was involved in all of her activities. She was involved in 4-H, Girl Scouts, various sports, and PTO. She provided any support that she could for her daughter and husband. Her life revolved around her family. She was a loving stepmother to her stepdaughter, Brandie (Nate) Anderson of Mount Vernon, as well as a loving Mimi to her grandchildren, Cuyler and Isla Anderson. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Betty Daniels of Fredericktown; her sister-in-law, Shawna Daniels of Mount Vernon; her brothers-in-law, Steve (Carla) Daniels of Mount Vernon, Chris (Laura) Daniels of Mount Vernon, and Kelly Daniels of Fredericktown; and numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved.

In addition to her father, Penny was preceded in death by her stepfather, Jim Johnson; her grandmother, Etta Bloom; her father-in-law, Paul Daniels; her sister-in-law, Mildred Daniels; and her brother-in-law, Kevin Daniels. The family received friends from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Flowers Chapel, 619 East High St., Mount Vernon.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Faith Lutheran Church, 170 Mansfield Ave., Mount Vernon, with Rev. Cody Blust officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council following the funeral service.
