John Anthony Mack, age 69 of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018, in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia, following a period of declining health.

A son of the late Robert and Sarah (Holland) Mack, John was born Aug. 31, 1949, in Ashland, Ohio.

On Aug. 8, 1979, John married the former Beverly Robb, and the couple raised two daughters, Mandy and Angie.

John was well known and highly respected throughout the community and formed many special relationships during his lifetime. He was the co-founder and longtime coordinator of the Robert Lamb Memorial Fantasy Football League, which is still in existence to this day.

John also volunteered his time as a softball coach, where he built numerous lasting friendships with his players and their families. He also served as the longtime building inspector for the East Central Ohio Building Authority. He had a passion for traveling and traveled to all parts of the world. He also was an avid golfer.

John is survived by his wife, Beverly Mack; his daughters and sons-in-law, Mandy and Dennis “Spank” Cross of New Philadelphia and Angie and Alex Osborne of Stoney Beach, Maryland; his treasured grandchildren, Jaide, Savannah, Addison, Bailey, John, Abigal, Olivia, Amelia and a grandson expected in the near future; a brother, Bob (Kathy) Mack of Lexington, Ohio; and two sisters, Patti (Rick) Boyd of Caledonia, Ohio and Kathy Yoha of Mansfield, Ohio.

John was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sharon Stanley.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 18 from 4-7 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. In keeping with John’s wishes, cremation will follow the visitation.
