Meda R. Kovacik, 93, of Amherst, Ohio, formerly of Cadiz, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024, with her family by her side.
She was born June 2, 1930, in Glencoe, Ohio, a daughter of the late Harold “Popeye” and Mabel Shepherd Carlon.
She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Cadiz where she was very active as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, and in the women’s mission group. For many years she relished sending cards to her family and church family. She also enjoyed her time serving the former Jewett and Jewett-Scio High School Band Boosters and 1st Volunteers at Harrison Community Hospital. She was an election pole worker for over 30 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Kovacik in 2013; brother, Ronald (Beulah) Carlon; sister, Patricia Rose, and brother-in-law, Donald Jochims.
Surviving is her son, Rev. Ed (Roxann) Kovacik of Amherst; daughter, Kathy Miser of Jewett; grandson, Brandon Miser; granddaughters, Kaci (Steve) Wright and Rev. Mikayla (Rob) Kovacik Doepker; great-grandchildren, Kadence and Brantley Wright, Madyson, Jaxon and Preston Miser; her sister, Karen Jochims of Hopedale; and a great number of nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were held Saturday, March 9, 2024, from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland-Barr Funeral Home, 172 S. Main St., Cadiz, with her granddaughter, Rev. Mikayla Kovacik Doepker officiating.
Burial will take place at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, at the convenience of the family.
