Linda Lou House, 84, of Morehead City, passed away
peacefully on Friday, September 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving
grandchildren. Born on October 3, 1940, in
Steubenville, Ohio, Linda was a devoted daughter, sister, wife,
mother, grandmother, and friend. She was known for her sense of humor, strong
opinions, and passion for traveling, but most of all for her unwavering love of
her favorite grandchild, Steven, and her next favorite, great-grandchild
Emmarie. Her home was filled with endless stories of family pastimes,
adventures, unconditional love, and the joy of being known as “Granny” to all
who knew her. In 1966, Linda married the
love of her life, Ernest House, and together they built a beautiful life and
family. She is survived by her daughter, Katherine Potter, and son-in-law,
Wally; three grandchildren, Steven Potter, Mary Hall, and Katlyn Potter; two
great-grandchildren, Emmarie Hall and Adeline Hall; and her brothers, Lewis
Smith of Orange Park, FL, and William “Bill” Smith of Bloomingdale, OH—all of
whom she loved deeply and of whom she was immensely proud. Linda was preceded in death by her
parents, Harold D. and Hazel C. Smith; her husband, Ernest L. House; and her
brothers, Wayne and Charles. A graveside service will be held on
Friday, September 12, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Gethsemane Memorial Park in
Morehead City. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that
donations be made in her memory to Crystal Coast Hospice House, 100 Big Rock
Weigh, Newport, NC 28570. She will be deeply missed and forever
cherished. Condolences and life tributes may be
