Dolores Ross

Dolores A. Ross, age 90, of Jewett, passed away Monday, May 27, 2024, at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz surrounded by her loving family. A lifelong resident of Harrison County, Dolores was born December 12, 1933, to the late Carl R. Bolitho and Mildred G. DeWalt Bolitho.

Dolores was a former George A Custer VFW Post 3072 Auxiliary member. She worked for the Scio Pottery for many years until they closed in 1986. She was also a beloved worker at the former Mitch’s Pizza in Jewett. After her husband Bill retired, they started Ross’s Lawn Care and Landscaping, working side by side until 2015. Together they received a beautification award from the Village of Jewett for their beautifully maintained property.

Dolores was one of thirteen children and a loving mother of six. She was a caregiver, always taking care of her family, her kids, or nieces and nephews. She truly enjoyed any time spent with her large family, and gardening.

Surviving is her daughters Darlene (John) Best of Jewett, Denise (Bill) Bonnell of Scio and Angie (Jeff Nichols) Bowery of Carrollton; eleven grandchildren Troy, Amanda, Nathan, Jamie, Tessa, Ron, Shay, Skyler, Brock, Brodie and Brayden; twenty-three great Grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings Maxine Norris, Carol DeWalt, Carl Bolitho, Jr, Audrey Birney, Norma Cagot and John Bolitho, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Bill, three sons Bill, Dave and Ron and six siblings Ellen Ross, Martha Boone, Virginia Bailey, Jane Coffield, Janet McAfee and Kay Eddy.

Services will be held Friday, May 31, 2024, at 1 pm at Koch Funeral Home, 101 W Main, Scio with Pastor Mark Statler officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Jewett.
