Charles Jay Staser, 68, of Coshocton died on January 25, 2026, because of a snow plowing accident. He was born in Millersburg, Ohio to John & JoAnn (Croft) Staser on January 15, 1958.

Following his River View High School graduation in 1976, Jay worked underground at Peabody Coal until mine closure and then gained employment with McWane Ductile where he completed over thirty-two years. Jay demonstrated a strong work ethic and had an impeccable attendance record admired by many.

Jay’s traits of genuineness and reliability carried into his family life and friendships. Jay devoted much love and care to his daughter, Aflen, whose memory he forever cherished. He deeply loved his family and greatly enjoyed family gatherings and holidays. He also loved and respected his great circle of friends, neighbors, and co-workers.

In retirement, he enjoyed receiving videos and photos of his nieces and nephews, learning more about American history, and visiting his classmates for monthly breakfasts. And nobody treated the family dogs, Skye and Spile, better.

Jay is survived by his brother, John Staser, sister, Jody (Tim) Cox, nephews and niece, John (Jen) Staser, Joseph (Shelby) Staser, Andrew (Lindsey) Cox, Austin (Jane) Cox, and Ashley (William) Cox, nine great-nieces and nephews, and aunts Janice Staser Ulry and Shirley Croft.

Jay was preceded in death by his daughter, Aften Hazel Staser, his parents and brother, Jeffrey K. Staser.

Jay leaves us a legacy built upon hard work, quiet service integrity, concern for others and always lending a helping hand for those in need.

For those who knew him, it was agreed upon, Jay was Jay, and we wouldn’t want him any other way. We will miss his loving heart and his well-earned mischievous grin. His memory will forever be a blessing to all.

A service to honor and celebrate Jay’s life will be held 11 a.m., Monday, April 6, 2026, at Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with Pastor Bob Wright officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery, Warsaw. FischerFuneralHome.com
