Brenda Furbay
Brenda Kay Furbay, age 84, of Dover passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, after a period of declining health.
Born in Millersburg, on November 17, 1941, she was a daughter of the late David and Audrey (Croskey) Lengacher.
Brenda was a 1959 graduate of Garaway High School. On November 17, 1962, she married Harry Dwayne Furbay. Together they enjoyed over 60 years of marriage before his passing in May of 2023.
Brenda loved spending her life caring for family. She was a gifted listener and always knew how to care for the needs of her family and friends. Her pride was making sure the family was well cared for and knew they were loved. As the family grew, her greatest joy was the grandchildren. She was never one to say goodbye, she always wanted her loved ones to know she would see them later.
She is survived by her children, Christine (Jim) Giumenti of Dover, Debbie (Jim) Henderson of Hartville, and Brian Furbay of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Beth (Mark), Kimberly (Keith), Kyle, Ryan (Tosha), Nick (Kiley), and Vincent; great-grandchildren, Levi, Raelynn, Ariah, Chase, Michaela, and Lillian; and many nieces and nephews.
Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Betty Miller, and brothers, Bill Lengacher, Dean Lengacher, and Russell Lengacher.
The family will greet guests on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory at New Philadelphia where a funeral service led by Pastor Leanna Roe will begin at 1:00 P.M. The family will welcome guests to a small luncheon in the Geib Family Center following the funeral. A private burial will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions in Brenda’s name may be made to The Rainbow Connection, 119 3rd St. NW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663; Crossroads Hospice Charitable Foundation, 10810 E. 45th St, Suite 300, Tulsa, OK 74146, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
