Area athletes enjoyed success at the Lidderdale Invitational track meet at Sandy Valley April 17. That included individuals and teams, two of which took championship trophies back to their schools.
Track
Indian Valley’s boys and Tusky Valley’s girls each won team titles in the annual event. Indian Valley totaled 140 points to hold off Tusky Valley for the boys championship, while Tusky Valley scored 145 to win the girls title over Indian Valley, which scored 140.

Sandy Valley finished third in the girls standings and fourth in the boys. Strasburg-Franklin was fifth on the girls side, seventh on the boys.
Indian Valley’s boys were led by Reese St. Clair, who won the 100- and 200-meter dashes and was second in the 400. Carsen Hostetler won the 110 and 300 hurdles and was second in the 100. Jeter Bollon won the high jump and Beckett Swaldo won the pole vault. Nolan Patacca finished second in the 1600
For the girls team, Katie Fillman won the shot put, Auria McDaniel and Jillian Rose finished 2-3 in the pole vault, and Gionna Miles finished second in the 100 hurdles.
Tusky Valley’s teams won six of the eight relays contested, each team winning 3-of-4. The Trojan girls were led by Savannah Ashton, who won the 100 and 200, and Natalie Woloch, who won the 100 and 300 hurdles. Natalie Stokes won the 3200 and Katie Armstrong won the pole vault. Rabeka Fouts finished second in the 200, Josie Eick finished second in the 800 and Sami Ward was runner-up in the 1600.
For the TV boys, Cade Conrad won the 400 and Graham Lewis was runner-up in the pole vault.
Sydney Hauenstein won the 100 hurdles and was second in the long jump to lead Sandy Valley’s girls. Taliana Tozzi won the high jump, 5-4 and Brianna Wheeler was second in the shot put. Gleason Pfeffer finished second in the 3200 to lead SV’s boys.

For Strasburg Franklin, Lydia Thomas won the 400 and the long jump, while Kylie McKenzie won the 3200. Gage Moore was runner-up in the discus and shot put to pace the Tiger boys.
For Tusky Central Catholic, Eleina Price won the 800, was runner-up in the 400 and finished third in the 3200 to lead the girls. Nolan Pugh placed sixth in the pole vault for the boys team’s best effort.

Dover Tornado Relays
Dover hosted its annual meet and came home with one trophy, as the boys team won with 144 points, outpacing Lake’s 114 by a comfortable margin, New Philadelphia finished 10thwith 17 but its top athletes were resting to compete the next day.
Dover got wins from Chase Daniel in the 800 and 1600, Justice Hughes in the 110 and 300 hurdles, Dante Clark in the long jump, and the 4x400 relay team. Dieter Weber finished second in the 400, Camden McCall was runner-up in the shot put and the 4x4100 relay also finished second.
On the girls side, Lake won with 123 points. New Philadelphia was third with 86, one-third of a point behind Barnesville. Dover finished fifth with 77.
Dover’s girls didn’t win an event but got second-place finishes from Kenley Oswald in the 100 and 200, and Emmy Rodriquez in the long jump
For New Philadelphia’s girls, Amya Pica won the 110 hurdles and finished second in the 300s, Khloe Sours won the high jump, and Kyle Smith placed second in the 1600. The Quakers also finished second in the 4x400.
Second Sole Eagle Elite Meet
New Philadelphia’s boys competed at GlenOak and finished sixth in a 23-team field that included Division I powers like meet champ Wadsworth, which edged Cleveland St. Ignatius 56-55 atop the standings. The Quakers finished with 45 points. Marcus Adelman won the 1600 and Wyatt Lendon won the 3200 for the Quakers. Mitchell Miller finished third in the high jump, while Nolan Rosneck placed and Alec Adelman placed fourth in the 110 hurdles and 1600, respectively.
