Sarah E. Barkman

Sarah E. Barkman, 90, of Farmerstown, Ohio, passed away at her residence surrounded by her family on Saturday, January 3, 2026, after a period of declining health.

She was born on October 26, 1935, to the late Eli J. and Anna (Miller) Miller. On March 14, 1963, she married Jacob J. Barkman who preceded her in death on December 28, 2010.

Sarah was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

She is survived by her children, Barbara (Nelson) Beachy of Walnut Creek, Alma (Henry) Yoder of Walnut Creek, Eli (Esther) Barkman of Baltic, Anna Mae (Alvin) Yoder of New Bedford, Ada Barkman of the home, Miriam Barkman of the home, Ivan (Susan) Barkman of Bainbridge, New York; daughter-in-law, Barbara (late Monroe) Barkman of Farmerstown; 30 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 18 step-grandchildren; 52 step-great-grandchildren; three step-great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Joe E. (late Anna) Miller of Benton and brother-in-law, David (late Ada) Hershberger of Holmesville.

In addition to her parents and her husband Jacob, she was preceded in death by her sons, Monroe and Alvin; two grandchildren, Sara and Eva Barkman; one great-granddaughter, Mary Beth Byler; step-great-grandchildren, Marty, John Mark, Lena and Daniel Yoder; a step-granddaughter-in-law, Miriam Yoder; siblings, Dan (Dena) Miller, Monroe (Mary) Miller, Clara (Enos) Raber, Ada Hershberger; and two step-sisters, Katie Miller and Mattie Miller.

Funeral services were held at the Robert I. Yoder residence, 2991 CR 114, Sugarcreek, on Tuesday, January 6, at 9:00 a.m. Bishop Daniel Raber officiated. Burial followed in the Schlabach Cemetery. Friends were able to call at the Robert I. Yoder residence after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday and any time on Monday.
