Richard R. Zeigler, age 64 of Strasburg, died suddenly at his home on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018.
Born Dec. 15, 1953, in Dover, Richard was the son of the late Gordon R. and Alma P. (Rockhill) Zeigler. He also was preceded in death by his grandmother, Pearl Rockhill, and his special aunt, Betty J. Dougherty.
Richard started working when he was just 15 years old. He graduated from Strasburg High School with the class of 1972. Following graduation, he began working for his father at G.R. Zeigler Trucking. He continued driving until he retired at age 62. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Strasburg.
On May 25, 1974, Richard married his grade-school sweetheart and love of his life, Denise Bixler, whom he often called “Denzel.” Together they raised a daughter, Heather McCarthy of Strasburg. Richard also was survived by his special grandson, Hunter S. Finley of Strasburg, and his beloved cat, Togy, whom he inherited from his father.
A graveside service will take place at Grandview Union Cemetery in Strasburg on Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Jason Rissler officiating.
