Together Again

Linda Ellen (Smail) O’Donnell, age 86, of Millersburg, passed away November 30, 2025, at her home. She had spent her last days surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Private family services will take place at a later date.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Union Grove Church of Christ, Alzheimer’s Association or Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare.

Linda was born September 4, 1939, at Mt. Vernon Hospital in Knox County, the third of four daughters born to Andrew Norris and Mary Jane (Mellor) Smail. 

Linda attended school in Danville, Ohio where she met her future husband Paul David O’Donnell. After graduating from Danville High School in 1957 Linda and Paul were married on August 10. 

Together they attended Ohio University where Linda pursued her lifelong passion in Studio Art and Design. After Linda completed one year of college, she and Paul started their family of five children, one son and four daughters. 

Linda spent many years focused on raising her children. She worked for years in various jobs and caring for her grandchildren. After Paul’s retirement from education, they both pursued becoming licensed pastors in the United Methodist Church. Linda had three congregations near Marietta and worked together with Paul in his ministries. 

Paul preceded her in death on November 24, 2009.

Linda will be remembered for her love for her family and using her artistic talents to make her surroundings beautiful. Linda was always taking a thrift store find and making it a treasure. She was an avid reader and read about a wide range of subject matter.

Linda is survived by children, Mark (Denise) O’Donnell, Erin (Joseph) Noss, Susan (Steven) Mulhall, Jill (John) Stankiewicz, Jennifer (Matthew) Maxwell; grandchildren Rachel (Curt) Mulhall Binder, Daniel Mulhall, Nikita (Michael) Zvolensky, Ryan (Kara) Noss, Amy (Zechariah) Smith, Katie (Taylor) Faunce, Allison (Bill) Chuirazzi, Emily (Austin) Roush, Garrett (Preslee) O’Donnell, Evan Maxwell and Andrew Maxwell; great-grandchildren Kayleigh, Lillian, Andrew, Alexis, Aliya, Melina, Merryn, Owen, Barrett, Reagan, Ella, Annie, Gabriel, Madelyn, Francesca, Gemma and one more on the way; sister Kathleen Reynolds and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Paul, Linda was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws Earl and Grace O’Donnell, sister Esther Hardin, brother-in-law James Hardin, sister Nola Edgar and brother-in-law Robert Edgar, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Gwen and Harland Fargo, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Marilyn and Donn Alspach.
