Evelyn Browning Uhl, age 101, of Millersburg, Ohio passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Sycamore Run Care Center surrounded by her family, following a period of declining health.
She was born on September 9, 1924, in Pittsburgh, PA to Rouss and Emma (Asair) Browning. She graduated from Millersburg High School in 1942. Evelyn married Richard Emerson Uhl on June 28, 1942. They celebrated 65 years together before his passing on January 7, 2007.
After having her children, she worked many years at Addressograph in Holmesville, Ohio. She later retired from Hardy Township where she served as Clerk for 12 years.
Evelyn was a 77-year member of the Order of Eastern Star. She served as Matron of the local group and Deputy of the district in 1977. Evelyn was a member of the Millersburg United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. She liked to travel, and she loved maintaining her flower gardens at the house.
She also loved visits from her family and friends. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Dick (Ruth Ann) Uhl of Millersburg, Jeanie Uhl (Bill) Young of Nashville and Barbara Troyer Miller of Millersburg; grandchildren: Jim "Bingo" Uhl, Tom (Babs) Uhl, Steve (Mary) Uhl, Rich (Marie) Allison, Jeff (Julie) Allison, Rickey Young, Donald Troyer, Jody (Cheri) Troyer, and Beth Troyer; 16 great grandchildren; and 21 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, and her parents.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 11 at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
