They’re Coming to Take Me Away
Karri Millward Harstine
Karri Millward Harstine, a beloved educator, mother, and friend, passed away on June 1, 2025, at her home. Born on June 26, 1982, in Coshocton to Jay and Kathy (Pigman) Millward. On April 26, 2008, she married Russell Harstine, who survives.
A proud graduate of River View High School’s Class of 2000, Karri further advanced her education by earning both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at West Virginia University. Her thirst for knowledge and dedication to education were reflected not only in her career but also in her warm, welcoming nature that endeared her to many.
Karri was a vibrant soul who dedicated her life to fostering a love of learning in others. She cherished her role as a teacher, having spent 12 years as a German teacher at River View High School before transitioning to teach Health and Wellness at River View Junior High. Her passion for teaching extended beyond the classroom as she joyfully traveled with students to Germany, France, and Italy, creating memorable experiences while showing appreciation for different cultures.
Karri’s kindness and curiosity shone brightly in all areas of her life. She found great joy in the simple pleasures of reading and cross-stitching. Most importantly, she immersively participated in her daughter Nora Harstine’s hobbies, supporting her in dance, pageants, soccer, and track. Watching her daughter’s growth and achievements brought immeasurable happiness, illustrating the deep bond they shared.
Along with her parents, she leaves behind her husband, Russell Harstine; her beloved daughter, Nora Harstine; her brother, Jason (Jessica) Millward; sister-in-law, Rebecca (Harry England) Harstine; her nephews, Jameson Millward, Xander McCune, Ryker and Rowan England; and her grandmothers, Joyce Pigman and Dolores Millward; mother-in-law, Julia Harstine. They will hold her memory close, cherishing the moments spent with her and remembering her as a guiding light in their lives.
Preceding her in death are her grandfathers, Harry Pigman and Jack Millward and father-in-law, Joe Harstine.
Her legacy will live on through the countless students she inspired and the family she cherished.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with one hour prior to the service. The funeral service will be on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM with Kristy Turner-Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Roscoe Cemetery.
