Lester E. Basiletti

Lester E. Basiletti, Sr., age 90 of New Philadelphia, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2018, in New Dawn Retirement Community at Dover, following a period of declining health.

A son of the late Massimo and Bertha (Welz) Basiletti, Lester was born Dec. 12, 1927, in New Philadelphia.

Lester was a longtime heavy-equipment operator, having worked for Joe Skinner Construction and Tom Larkin Construction. His favorite activities were playing cards, which he did many times each week, as well as fishing and racing cars during his younger years.

Lester is survived by his children, Rev. Santi (Claudia) Basiletti of Ft. Myers, Florida, Lester Basiletti, Jr. of New Philadelphia, Jo Ann Brown of Gnadenhutten, and Robert (Laurrie) Basiletti and Harry (Ruth Jean) Basiletti, both of New Philadelphia; a daughter-in-law, Pam Basiletti of New Philadelphia; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Romona Weber; and a brother, Emmett Basiletti.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie (Grasselli) Basiletti, whom he married Aug. 18, 1949; a son, Ralph Basiletti; and 14 siblings.

A private family graveside service will be held at East Avenue Cemetery in New Philadelphia at a later date.
