West Holmes Local Schools announced the appointment of Joe Gilmore as the district’s new high school athletic director, beginning Aug. 1.
Gilmore brings a background in education, coaching and athletic leadership. He currently serves as a social studies teacher at Waynedale High School and assistant athletic director/faculty manager, where he has spent the past eight years supporting student growth academically, personally and athletically.

In addition to his classroom experience, Gilmore has demonstrated leadership in athletics, most recently as head varsity baseball coach at Norwayne High School.
Gilmore holds a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University and a Bachelor of Arts in History from The College of Wooster. He also possesses a valid Ohio principal license (5-12), reflecting his commitment to educational leadership.
“I am honored and excited for the opportunity to serve West Holmes,” Gilmore said. “I look forward to working with our student-athletes, coaches, staff and community to build on the strong tradition of excellence and to ensure all students have the opportunity to succeed both on and off the field.”
As athletic director, Gilmore will focus on fostering a culture that emphasizes academic achievement, sportsmanship and competitive excellence while continuing to support and grow the district’s athletic programs.
