Hiland baseball edges Claymont in extra innings
Isaiah Wagler's game-winning hit secures 1-0 victory in Inter-Valley Conference matchup
The Hiland baseball team pulled out a 1-0 eight-inning win over Claymont in an Inter-Valley Conference clash March 30.
Isaiah Wagler led the Hawks with two hits and drove in the game-winning run. Grady Monigold and Christian Mullet also had two hits while Logan Yoder scored the winning run.
Gerut Monigold earned the win on the mound in relief, tossing two scoreless innings while allowing one hit and striking out two. Yoder tossed the first six innings, holding Claymont scoreless on five hits while punching out five and not walking a batter.
Hiland eked out a 1-0 win over Wheeling Central in nonleague play March 28.
Michael Miller led the Hawks with a double and RBI. Gerut Monigold added two hits (double) and scored a run.
Andre Yoder picked up the win on the mound, tossing six scoreless innings while allowing two hits and striking out five. Damon Troyer earned the save.
