Harold D. Himes, age 91 of Wooster, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2018, at Wooster Community Hospital, following two months of declining health.

Harold was born Feb. 28, 1927, in Bryan, Ohio, the son of John E. and Vera (Connolly) Himes. He was united in marriage to Hazel Nussbaum on June 5, 1949, in Kidron. She survives.

Harold graduated from Ashland College with a business degree and had worked as a cost accountant for Rubbermaid Inc. He also was a realtor and had worked for Real Estate Showcase and Dick Zarle Realty. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

Harold was a member of the Salem Mennonite Church (Kidron), had served on various church councils, and was a former superintendent and Sunday school teacher. He also volunteered at MCC and was a faithful caregiver for his wife the past five years.

In addition to his wife, Hazel, he is survived by daughters, Julie (Gary) Spreng of Medina, Joan (Roger) Stump of Greenville, Ohio, Janet (Leonard) Nussbaum of Shreve, and Jean (Randy) Lengacher and Jill (Douglas) Gallion, both of Creston; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Rosine Nussbaum of Dalton and Karen (Andrew) Jao of Taiwan.

Harold was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lynet Nussbaum, and his twin brother, Harley Himes.

Services will be held at Salem Mennonite Church near Kidron on Thursday, Dec. 27 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Kevin Himes officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at Salem Mennonite Church on Wednesday, Dec. 26 from 6-8 p.m. or one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday.
