Minerva honors Trussel for 50 years on chain crew
Friday night at the Minerva varsity football game, the Lions community paused to recognize a man who has been a constant presence on the sidelines for half a century. Dave Trussel was honored for his 50 years of service as a member of the Minerva Lions chain crew.
Throughout the last five decades, Trussel has served under multiple Minerva athletic directors, including the late Stan Shingleton, along with Don Spinell, Andy Mangun, Mike Waller and Garth Evans. Each one, past and present, joined in celebrating his unwavering commitment to Minerva athletics.
To commemorate the occasion, Trussel was presented with a plaque honoring his service, followed by a well-deserved round of applause from the crowd.
“Dave’s dedication to the Lions over the past 50 years is truly inspiring,” said Evans, Minerva's current athletic director. “His loyalty and love for this community represent the very best of Minerva pride.”
The Minerva community extends its heartfelt thanks to Dave Trussel for his extraordinary service.
