On Sunday, Feb. 18, a fundraiser for the Zane Carson Scholarship Fund was held at the Harrison County Fairgrounds event center.
“We are so very happy for the turnout and the many donations,” said event coordinator Tracie Cole. “This is such a very worthy event. The scholarship fund is something that the family wanted to do in remembrance of Zane. Their decision was right on track, as the community has overwhelmingly responded. Thanks to everyone who is supporting this cause!”
The main means of raising funds throughout the day was through a quarter auction. There was also a Chinese auction, a 50/50 drawing, and food and drink concessions available.
“I am overwhelmed,” said Tina Carson (Zane’s mother). “I cannot express my thankfulness to all the people that came out in support of the fundraiser. I now know what it is like to be both honored and blessed. As a parent you want to always do the right thing by your children. In this case our child will be doing the right thing for someone else’s child, and that is so very wonderful to see and to be part of in Zane’s name. I am very proud to be seeing this amazing scholarship being put into action. On behalf of our entire family, we want to thank you all for coming out today and showing your support. A very special thanks to Tracie and all of those who donated their time and efforts to make this the success that it is!”
For those that could not make the fundraiser, contributions to the scholarship can still be made by contacting Tracie Cole at 740-310-8329.
