Column: Pep Fuels on Lincoln Avenue in 1990
Photo by Jim McFarlan shows Pep Fuels on SR 9, now McDonald’s; part of a 1990 collection donated to the Harrison County Genealogical Society.
This 1990 photo of Pep Fuels on Lincoln Avenue, also known as state Route 9, was taken by Jim McFarlan. The view captures a place that, like much of Lincoln Avenue, has changed over the years. Today, the former Pep Fuels site is home to McDonald’s.
At the time, the neighborhood also included the home of Babe and Sue Erdos and a house belonging to Sue’s mother, Mrs. Milliken.
McFarlan photographed many local businesses and homes in 1990, and his wife, Virginia, later donated the scrapbook collection to the Harrison County Genealogical Society.
They say two things in life are certain: death and taxes. Perhaps a third certainty should be added — change.
