Cadiz Council discuss projects
By Dominic Weiss
Cadiz Village Council met Thursday, Nov. 16, and discussed current and upcoming projects.
Village Administrator Brandon Ludwig explained that work on the water treatment plant is wrapping up and will be done by the end of the month. The plant has received $2 million dollars worth of upgrades, including a new roof.
The village is also wrapping up two sewer projects, the South and the Center. Both projects resulted in nearly three miles of roads paved. They are moving on to phase two of the sewer system project, which will be on the north side of the village. Work on that will start in the next two months.
The Police K-9 dog just recently passed certification and is now on the road.
Joe Thomas, president of the Park Board, was present at the meeting and gave a rundown on the year’s events, including the installation of two new swing sets at Sally Buffalo Park. The park is planning to install a small playground in the park next year to continue growing activities for kids. The Park Board will be meeting at the end of the year to put together a calendar for summer 2024.
As far as upcoming projects, Ludwig explained the village is working with Neighborhood Strategies (a company out of Columbus) to create a community profile. This will break down information on the business district, population, water and sewer, and the school district. The profile can be given to businesses, developers, and anyone looking to move into the area, to help them make business decisions.
Neighborhood Strategies will also be submitting an application for the Vibrant Communities Grant, working with the village and the CIC to receive funding for the greenspace uptown. This has been worked on for the past year, including the demolition of the bank building.
The village is pursuing funding for the second phase of the water project, which includes water tank repair and water line replacement throughout the village.
On a final note, Ludwig also said that the CVA will be hosting the Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 2, at 6 p.m. The village has also received a Christmas tree from Brunk Tree Service out of Carrollton, and they will be decorating the square to prepare for the parade. They will also be setting up Christmas Card Lane in Sally Buffalo in the next few weeks.
