Good News: More than enough, God is our source
We’ve all heard the expressions; “I’m stretched too thin”, “I’m long on month and short on money”, “I’m borrowing from Peter to pay Paul”, and list goes on. It’s our society’s way of saying we don’t have enough. And what is the “enough” they’re talking about? Money, love, patience, time, vision…you name it. Thankfully for followers of Jesus, the Bible is full of inspiring events where someone’s “not enough” became more than enough when God came on the scene.
When Jesus was ministering to multitudes in the wilderness and He said it was time to feed them, the disciples balked and said, “We don’t have enough.” But where human resources fail, the Lord’s resources are more than enough. When Elisha came in touch with the widow who was in danger of losing her sons to slavery because she couldn’t pay her debts, Elisha asked her what she had in the house. “Nothing at all, except a flask of olive oil,” she replied. Elisha gave her God’s plan and her one small flask of olive oil filled jar after jar to sell so she could pay her debts and secure her future. Her “nothing except” was no match for God’s “more than enough.” When God was wanting to get Moses to accept his assignment of leading the Israelites out of Egypt He asked Moses, “What is in your hand?” Moses said, “A shepherd’s staff.” It was Moses’ tool of his earthly trade that God turned into a “more than enough” supernatural tool. In fact, one of God’s names in the Old Testament is El Shaddai, which means, “The All Sufficient One”, the God who is more than enough.
Are you in a situation today where your “not enough” is crying out for God’s “more than enough?” Let’s not be like the ten spies who returned from spying out the land and gave Moses and the Israelites a bad report saying that they could not defeat the giants they encountered. There are plenty of Debbie Downer’s in the world to tell you you’re not going to make it so don’t be your own nay sayer. What ever tough situation you’re going through right now look heavenward and believe that the God of your salvation, the Lord Jesus, can deliver you. Give Him your “not enough” and wait on Him to rescue you with His “more than enough.”
Psalm 46:1 “God, you’re such a safe and powerful place to find refuge! You’re a proven help in time of trouble – more than enough and always available whenever I need you.” (TPT)
