Harrison Central girls track optimistic now and for future
Huskies have returning talent as well as depth across a variety of events
Depth, experience and leadership are setting the tone for the Harrison Central girls track and field team as it heads into the new season.
Coach Ty Kenny said he is encouraged by the balance across events and the number of athletes who returned after earning letters last year.
“I am excited for the season and really like how well rounded our lineup is,” Kenny said. “We have a lot of experience in a lot of events, and I think that will benefit us this year.”
That experience begins with a strong core of returning letter winners. The group includes Kim Eikleberry, Aubree Hodkinson, Leanna Scott, Kamari West, Teagan Parks and Miranda Eikleberry, Hannah Grady, Peyton Visser, Brittani Feezel, Lilli Smith, Zoe Whipkey and Grace Miller.
Kenny said the leadership from that group, particularly the seniors, will be key as the team navigates a demanding schedule.
“We have a great group of seniors, and I am thankful for their leadership and experience,” he said.
The Huskies also boast a sizable roster, something Kenny believes will pay dividends both immediately and in the future.
“The numbers that have come out to participate in this season are encouraging, not just for this season but for seasons to come,” he said.
Among the top returners expected to lead the way in 2025 are Smith in discus, Parks in pole vault, Scott and Miller in the sprints, Emily Cope in mid-distance events and Aubrie Moss in distance races.
The full team reflects that depth across multiple disciplines. Athletes such as Khloe Mader, Ali Dulkoski, Leah Grady, Amelia Puskarich and others add versatility, while a large freshman and sophomore class provides additional support and future potential.
Supporting the athletes is a coaching staff led by Kenny, along with Luke Turner, Becky Coffman, Kurtis Haney, Ian Lowry, Brandon Haney, Megan Lowry and Chase Clark.
With a mix of veteran leadership and emerging talent, Harrison Central appears positioned to compete across a wide range of events this season. Kenny said the team’s versatility could be its biggest strength as it looks to build consistency and contend in meets throughout the year.
