The following are responses to questions submitted by The Free Press Standard to each of the students.

What extracurricular activities are you involved in both in and out of school?

Bohorquez: I am currently not involved in any extracurricular activities. I was, however, part of the CHS Club at the beginning of the school year.

Leslie: Varsity basketball, varsity volleyball, vice president of FFA chapter, 4-H, youth group at St. John’s the Evangelist.

Do you have any special hobbies?

Bohorquez: I really enjoy jigsaw puzzles, crosswords and sudoku as they are great ways of entertaining myself while also learning and exercising my brain. Reality-wise, I like photography, listening to music and pottering.

Leslie: I enjoy reading and making homemade Lattes.

Where do you plan to attend college?

Bohorquez: I plan to go to Kent State University.

Leslie: Marietta College to major in petroleum engineering and play collegiate volleyball.

What are your career plans?

Bohorquez: I am planning to become a registered nurse while also being enrolled in the pre-dentistry program as a second major/concentration. From there, and depending on the circumstances, I would like to continue my education and become a nurse practitioner or dentist.

Leslie: I plan to pursue a career in the drilling specialization of the petroleum engineering field.

What teacher, coach, family member or special friend has influenced you and why?

Bohorquez: Mr. Kappelman, middle school art and ceramics teacher, has had a great impact on me during my senior year due to his personal teaching and support. He has been a great mentor for me. He is highly intelligent, creative and reasonable man who I look up to every day, a man whose advise and presence have helped me push through and want to be better.

Leslie: Mrs. Davis, my ag teacher and FFA advisor because she has taught me to be kind always and find something every day to be thankful for.

What advice can you give for success in life?

Bohorquez: You must find and own the love around you, do everything you do thinking of love. Love for others, love in what you do, love in who you are and who you want to be. Be and do your best for your loved ones, for the love you shall give and will receive. You will succeed no matter what happens as long as love is your witness.

Leslie: Don’t forget to stop and smell the roses.

As Students of the Month, both become eligible for a $500 scholarship provided by McFadden Insurance Co. to one boy and one girl at the conclusion of the 2024-25 school year. The two seniors, who are selected by the staff, will have their pictures displayed in the commons at CHS.
