Harrison Central competes at Valley of Thunder Tournament

The Lady Huskies of Harrison Central High School traveled to Symmes Valley to compete in the Valley of Thunder Tournament April 3-4.
Before competing, the Lady Huskies had the opportunity to watch former Steubenville pitcher Jules King, who now plays for Marshall University.
Harrison Central opened tournament play against Point Pleasant High School. The Huskies fell behind 2-0 in the bottom of the first inning. The Big Blacks added four runs in the third and one more run later to hand Harrison Central a 7-0 loss.
The Huskies were limited to four hits, including a double by Kara Blackburn. Harrison Central was charged with three errors, leading to four unearned runs. The Huskies consistently put the ball in play and struck out only once.
The Falcons of Fairfield Union High School of Lancaster were the next opponent for the Huskies April 4. Harrison Central’s bats came alive after the team fell behind 5-1 midway through the second inning. The Huskies erupted for 14 runs over the next four innings.
Leading the 13-hit attack were Jaylin Ward and Emma Jarvis with three hits each. Lillian Thomas and Kam Crothers added two hits apiece. Jarvis and Thomas each had extra-base hits. The Huskies also drew 11 walks. Jaiden Pelegreen reached on balls three times, while Mikayla Pelegreen, Bailey Smith and Denali Stull each walked twice.
Mikayla Pelegreen earned the win in the circle, allowing 10 hits and striking out seven as the Huskies claimed a 15-6 victory.
Harrison Central closed tournament play Saturday against Eastern Local High School. Although the Huskies outhit the Eagles 14-12, they fell 12-6.
Maddie Johnson made her first start in the circle for Harrison Central. Denali Stull led the Huskies at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a home run and a triple. Mikayla Pelegreen, Kara Blackburn, Kam Crothers and Jaylin Ward had two hits each, with Ward adding a triple. Johnson also contributed a double.
