Freeport club to host kids fishing derby May 9

The Freeport Farmer Sportsman Club will hold its Kids Fishing Derby for children ages 3-12 May 9 at Twin Hills Campground and Resort, 77720 Cummins Road, Freeport.

A parent or guardian must be present to supervise children around the water. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m., and casting will start at 11 a.m.

Lunch and incentives will be provided. Participants also will receive a T-shirt, fishing pole, bait, tackle and other items.

Organizers said the event is designed to share the sport of fishing and provide a fun day outdoors. Those who have tackle are encouraged to bring it, but equipment will be available for those who need it.

Registration is due April 26 at Woodlands Outdoor & Supply, 79550 Freeport-Tippecanoe Road, Tippecanoe, or at Twin Hills Campground and Resort.
