Carrollton FFA brothers place third at ag power contest
The brothers competed against teams from across the district, using technical knowledge and teamwork to troubleshoot machinery
Carrollton FFA members Logan Pridemore and Andrew Pridemore finished third out of 13 teams at the District 8 Agricultural Power Contest held Feb. 20 at DRP Equipment in Cadiz.
The brothers competed against teams from across the district, using technical knowledge and teamwork to troubleshoot agricultural machinery. Teams were given 20 minutes at six stations to diagnose and repair two customer complaints or mechanical problems on a variety of equipment.
Contest organizers said the event tested mechanical skill as well as communication and the ability to work efficiently under pressure. An industry professional served as judge, scoring teams on their diagnostic process, repair accuracy and overall teamwork.
Andrew Pridemore, a sophomore, teamed with his older brother, Logan Pridemore, a senior, to earn the third-place finish.
DRP Equipment provided the machinery used during the contest, allowing students to work with real-world equipment similar to what they may encounter in future agricultural careers.
